  Title: Klute
Genre: Mystery, Romance, Thriller  Year: 1971  Country: USA  Rating: Starring: Jane Fonda, Donald Sutherland, Charles Cioffi, Roy Scheider, Dorothy Tristan  Director: Alan J. Pakula

My Review: Jane Fonda was great in this murder mystery, but Donald Sutherland was a bit of a disappointment. Actually, the character direction was the real disappointment. All the dialog felt stilted, staged and rehearsed. The only actor giving their best was Jane Fonda. Donald Sutherland (Klute) stars as a small town private detective put on the case of a missing person. Klute latches onto his only lead, Bree Daniels (played by Jane Fonda) - a part time call-girl trying to make it in the Big Apple. While Klute resorts to unscrupulous tactics to get the info he needs, he isn't the only character double-dealing and jockeying for position in this highly social drama. An anonymous stalker provides the only suspense in this extremely slow missing persons mystery. Jane Fonda's acting was definitely the best part of this movie. She made Donald Sutherland look like a cardboard cutout character. 3 of 5.

Summary: John Klute's friend has totally disappeared. The only clue a connection with a call girl, Bree Daniels. Klute taps her phone in order to gain evidence against her to blackmail her into helping him find his friend. While Klute searches, someone is stalking Bree.
