Rob's World! Privacy Policy
Every web site has to have a Privacy Policy - Here's mine

Privacy Policy for the Rob's World! web site(s) - (c) All Rights Reserved / https://www.robsworld.org/robsworldprivacypolicy.html

This Privacy Policy describes the information that is collected, and how that information is used when you access my web site(s) - Websites that I created and maintain. It shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to read this, and you shouldn't need a law degree to understand it.

FYI: Regarding 1st, 2nd, 3rd parties (see language below). 'I' am the 1st party, 'You' are the 2nd party, and the '3rd' party is anyone else; including my hosting provider.

A. Overview
B. Web Site Traffic Information
C. Notification of Changes
D. Contact Information

A. Overview - What personally identifiable information is collected?

As far as I know - IP addresses and web browser 'User Agent' information is collected by my hosting provider (a 3rd party) for my use. In other words, fact of visit information. The fact that you visited my website and the browser you used (as reported by your system's browser and/or operating system). There is no personal information collected by me (or my 'agents') while browsing this site or downloading any files provided. There is no way to 'Log In' to my website(s). I don't ask you to create any user accounts, and I don't ask you to provide any user information. I don't care where you left off while reading something on one of my webpages, and I'm not trying to keep track of what interests you. As far as I know - There is no use of Cookies, 3rd party hit counters (I tried using 'hit counters' long ago, but they never seemed to work properly, and I gave up on that (10+ years ago?)), 3rd party banners, advertisements, web beacons, or any type of Data Miners used on this site. I didn't put any of this 3rd party 'stuff' on my website(s), and I've gone out of my way to ensure that there are none (Investigating all generated/non-author created code). When/if I find any such nonsense, I delete/remove it. If you see (have evidence) that these things exist on one of my websites/web-pages, please point it out to me. I'll do what I can to remove, cripple or mitigate it. Note: Some pages contain JavaScript which is used to call or format data. Whenever possible, I have removed, examined or modified this code to prevent 3rd party content from loading into my webpages (meaning ads and the like). Disabling JavaScript is one way to reduce the amount of exposure to 3rd party content and data collection. My website(s) works fine with JavaScript disabled/some photo presentations (of my content/photos) and formatting of information may be impacted by disabling JavaScript.

B. Web Site Traffic Information

My web site(s) include links to third party web sites. Links that I intentionally embedded/encoded into my website(s). These sites are governed by their own privacy statements, and this site (meaning 'me') is not responsible for their operations, including but not limited to their information collection/retention practices. Users submitting information to or through these third party web sites should review the privacy statement of these/those sites before providing them with personally identifiable information. Those websites are not this website (my website/websites). You can usually tell who's website you are visiting, by looking at the URL line at the top of your browser. Whenever possible, I examine (and edit) the links that I embed in my website, in order to remove anything that looks like tracking code (for example: URLs from F*book and G*ogle often include lots of extraneous code designed to track the use of links to F*book material or other website(s). Whenever possible, I remove these tracking links, sanitizing them to include the purest form of html linking necessary. I'm not perfect, and it's possible that some links (to third party sites) contain tracking code. Use your discretion when following any links that take you outside my website(s). It's possible that your use (if you click on them) of those third party links could result in you being tracked by a third party.

If (via email or some other communications medium) you provide me with your email address (or any other personally identifiable information) when discussing/in relation to something on my web site(s), I will not give away your information to anyone else without your prior approval/authorization. I won't give your information away, sell your information, or lease it to anyone else, unless I 'need to' for law enforcement reasons. They will need to do more than ask for it - They'll have to provide me with a warrant and or produce a legally compelling order. If you communicate intent to commit a crime or provide me (whether you intend to or not) with evidence of a crime, I may report you to the proper law enforcement officials/organizations with or without your consent, approval, or notification.

C. Notification of Changes

This policy may be revised (by me) over time as new features are added to the site or as I incorporate suggestions from visitors. I am not required to tell you/visitors/anyone when I update this policy. I'm not tracking you, don't know how to contact visitors (because they don't usually provide me with their contact information (and they're not required to)), and wouldn't want to keep track of your personal (including contact) information. This Privacy Policy was last updated on October 11, 2024.

  • June 21, 2021: Updated date in metadata/header, updated Overview - Added the word 'None' at beginning of overview. As in 'What personally identifiable information is collected?' Answer = None.
  • June 25, 2021: Updated contact information about the 'at' symbol.
  • December 18, 2022: Updated Web Site Traffic information (I won't necessarily notify you if I report you/your communications to law enforcement officials), corrected some spelling errors.
  • October 26, 2023: Updated some information regarding what data is collected. My hosting provider collects 'fact-of-visit' information. IP addresses and user-agent information. Also updated some additional language regarding tracking code embedded by third parties in links present on my web pages. I remove such tracking code when I notice of it/am made aware of it.
  • December 29, 2023: Reviewed the policy, made some punctuation and grammar changes. Made sure that language regarding 'cookies' and data collection was accurate and clear.
  • October 11, 2024: Reviewed the policy, made some punctuation and grammar changes. Just a routine review (not scheduled, just occurring in conjunction with an email I sent to people on a D&D 'waiting list'.

D. Contact Information

E-mail: PS: If you prefer not to enable JavaScript/Don't have JavaScript enabled: I'm 'Robert' at the Domain listed in the URL of your browser. Yes - My email address contains an 'at' symbol. However, if I actually included the 'at' symbol in the code or content of this page (without the javascript encoding), the result would be address scraping by web-crawlers/spiders, and an increase in the amount of spam that I receive (see uses of JavaScript as mentioned in the privacy policy above).
