Rob's World

PREFACE

     The International Coinage Convention of The Realms was held in Ordoni, Hadeska. In the year 639RWR. The purpose of the convention was to standardize coins; reduce counterfeiting and currency crimes; stabilize exchange rates; and improve trade throughout the realms. An agreement was reached after two weeks of intense talks. Signatory officials representing 34 separate Nations/City States adopted the Ordoni Standard of Coinage.
     The standard established eight coins as the basis for minting throughout these realms. The eight coins are shown below. All coins are 1" in dia, and 1/10" thick. The coins are stamped on one side with alchemical symbols of the appropriate coins. The other side may feature whatever the minting nation/state desires. The dges of all coins are milled to eliminate the possibility of shaving, and each coin weighs .02 pounds. (50 to the pound).

COMPOSITION

     All the coins are constructed of two parts. A center plug, and an outer ring. The center plugs are amalgams of precious metal and nickel. The plugs contain the following %'s of actual precious metal.
    COPPER = 100%   BRONZE = 20%   SILVER = 10%    ELECTRUM = 1%
      GOLD = .5%  PLATINUM = .1%  MITHRAL = .05%  ADAMANITE = .025%
     The remainder of the coin is composed of nickel. The purity of these coins can be tested by bathing the coin in a special chemical bath readily available for approximately 1 sp per ounce. (enough to test 1000 coins) The liquid turns a particular color when exposed to the proper coin. Colors are as follows:
   GREEN = COPPER YELLOW = BRONZE WHITE = SILVER BLACK = ELECTRUM
    GOLD = GOLD SILVER = PLATINUM BLUE = MITHRAL RED = ADAMANITE

     Since the signing of the Ordoni Standard of Coinage it has become the standard of the Realms. Some people even refuse any coins that are not minted in the Ordoni Standard. The Ordoni standard coins are not the only coins of the Realms, but they are rapidly becoming the most widely used. The construction, weights, and values of the coins are standardized. Because of this they are the prefered coins of merchants and adventurers everywhere.
